How to make a Complaint

 Why complaints?

Complaints are important to the GCCPC because they provide us with useful information in relation to potential anti-competitive behavior and breach of consumer rights in Gambia.

Who can lodge a complaint?

Any person (individual, businessman or company) can lodgee a complaint at the GCCPC.


The complainants identity may be kept anonymous if he or she so wishes.

Complaint Procedures

The GCCPC will first check that the complaint falls within the scope of its powers under the Competition Act or Consumer Protection Act. If it does not, the GCCPC may redirect you to the relevant agency. If the complaint cannot be substantiated, the matter will be closed. The GCCPC will inform you if it does not propose to take any action.

If the complaint can be substantiated with the relevant information, the GCCPC will evaluate and assess whether the agreement, conduct, anticipated merger or merger complained of is likely to have an appreciable adverse effect on competition according to the Competition Act 2007


If the complaint can be substantiated with the relevant information, the GCCPC will evaluate and assess whether the agreement or conduct amounts to a breach of a consumer right according to the Consumer Protection Act 2014

GCCPC may launch a formal investigation if there are reasonable grounds to believe that Competition or Consumer Protection Law has been breached. You may also be asked to provide further information. In deciding whether to launch a formal investigation GCCPC will also take into account its strategic priorities.

The GCCPC will acknowledge receipt of your complaint (within three working days) and inform you about the outcome of your complaint.
