GCCPC Trains Journalists

The Commission cognizant of the role the media plays in keeping the general public informed and abreast with issues surrounding them, held a daylong training for media practitioners. Media Advocacy the Commission believes will help in raising awareness about the functions and activities of the Commission and the Acts under its purview. Media advocacy can help raise awareness on the role and actions of the Commission as well as the benefits of addressing anti-competitive and anti –consumer behavior.

The discussion following the session centered on the state of advocacy of the GCCPC, the establishment of Consumer Protection Tribunals and complaint procedure for consumers in rural Gambia.

The journalists were encouraged to seek clarification and the expertise of the Commission in competition and consumer protection stories.
